SGA BIG BANG! *\o/*
So many awesome fics, so many, many awesome pieces of artwork!

bluespirit_star's Solitary Man for my art piece. It's an AU, set on earth with a disillusioned Outcast!John and a hurt vulnerable McKay and bluespirit_star does a wonderful job fixing both of them (slash, NC-17; 40,700 words).
My art piece was a labour of love and I want to give a huge thank you to my cheerleadergreyias who helped me with pesky details like photoshop and layer masks and urged me on with "Right now it's a C minus Trystings, but you're getting there!" (when - looking back on my first draft - it was actually a big fat F). When I discovered opacity (owww opacity) I think I got there in the end.

I was muttering to myself the other day that we should get at least an extra userpic to compensate for three days of denied LJ access, but this is nice too! :)
If you have a paid account, or had one on August 6, LJ's offering us a three day extension of our paid time due to the outages and spotty service surrounding the DoS attacks.

I was checking
maxinemayer 's LJ today, to see if there was any news after a year, and found that a friend of her daughter left a message in April informing us that Maxine passed away in May 2008. I had expected as much, but it's still a shock. She was such a generous and sweet person. I will miss her.

California high court upholds gay marriage ban
I am SO incredibly disappointed (not to mention embarrassed! California, you're my home state, wtf.)
How can a supreme court not rule in favor of equal rights. I don't get it.

I've been fiddling around with my graphics tablet and my scanner - both are awesome - but I can't post to LJ without a huge loss in quality.
.png gives the best results (.jpeg looks awful, .psd files are too large) but even .png looks grainy compared to the original.
How do you guys do it? I upload to Photobucket. Does that have anything to do with it?
Example: Rodney's Emo Cat by argosy (if I had any pride I'd post something better, but this is all I have right now).
This was done with ArtRage on a Bamboo Fun (coloring is new to me. So is drawing cats)

Joe M's blog: Ships and What Ifs.
Wow.
Insightful, attentive, giving us fans an explanation without getting all sarcastic. Sure makes a nice change from that godawful Q&A with Gero the other day. *is impressed*
It doesn't change the fact that I still don't like the McKeller pairing, I still wish the writers had gone for Ronon/Keller, I still much rather see Sheppard and McKay's friendship explored than Rodney and Keller having lunch and I still resent the fact that after five years of team adventures, we get an unpopular canon ship pasted to the end of the show. But whining about it isn't going to help and I'll shut up now.
Recurring gay character... Probably Lorne, which makes Lorne/Parrish CANON. Haha.
